- Wed, Aug 195:30 PMBackyard Happy Hour5:30 PM | Skip the crowded bar and join us for a different kind of happy hour.Trade the noise for something more meaningful. Skip the crowded bar and join us for a different kind of happy hour. We'll gather in a backyard to slow down after the workday, share food and drinks, and enjoy a few screen-free hours together. There is no networking agenda, no pressure to be "on," and no expectation that you leave having met everyone. Instead, we hope you'll leave knowing someone a little better than when you arrived. To help spark connection, we'll have a jar of thoughtful conversation prompts available but there's no script. Let the evening unfold naturally. At Unplugged, we believe community isn't built in a single gathering. It's built through small, consistent acts of showing up for one another. Before the evening ends, we'll invite everyone to take on a simple Community Practice for the month ahead. One small way to strengthen connection in your own neighborhood, workplace, or circle of friends. When we gather again, we'll begin by sharing stories of what happened. Because community isn't something we attend. It's something we create together. Whether you come with a friend or arrive on your own, you'll be warmly welcomed. Bring Your favorite drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) A snack to share if you'd like A lawn chair if it makes you more comfortable Your phone tucked away A willingness to slow down and be present Come for the conversation. Leave with a Community Practice. Return with a story.GatheringRegister
- Saturday, August 221:00 PMSlow Stitch Gathering1 pm | San Jose Museum of Quilts and TextilesJoin The Unplugged Collective for a beginner-friendly Slow Stitch Gathering at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. Facilitated by Gosia Rybka, this relaxed, hands-on afternoon will introduce simple mending skills including hand stitching, patchwork, sewing on buttons, and basic repair techniques. Bring a favorite sweater, worn jeans, a jacket with a missing button, or another well-loved item that could use a little care. As we stitch, we’ll slow down, share stories, and explore what it means to repair rather than replace. This is a free event with $10 museum admission If the admission fee is a barrier, please contact jenna@theunpluggedcollective.org. No one will be turned away due to finances. No experience necessary. Just bring something worth mending.Skill ShareRegister
